How To Soak Water A Topiary

A good method of watering a topiary is by soaking it. The sphagnum moss is similar to a sponge. It will soak up water and hold it until time and environmental conditions allows it to evaporate. This soak allows for reduced watering frequency since it is a deep watering.

We use a container to hold the water. Depending on the topiary shape determines the size of the container needed.

Our Standing Mouse topiary works well with this plastic food storage container.

Adding a little water to the container and allowing the topiary to soak it all up makes it easy to water.

The results show the darker damp sphagnum moss near the bottom where the plants are located.
